Hi! I’m Shannon Shibata-Germanos – As an investor, my thematic areas of interest are health-tech, biotech, digital health and personalized medicine. With two decades of experience in political policy analysis, conflict management, and institutional development in the Middle East, I have had the privilege of working as an international consultant for foundations and multinational companies, structuring private-public partnerships and sustainability strategies, as well as facilitating cross-border business deals in the Middle East and within developing markets such as sub saharan Africa.

MORE ABOUT ME.

I am a half Japanese, half American, third culture kid that has spent my life calling cities such a Tokyo, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Amman, Seattle, Charlotte, Singapore, Geneva and London my home.

Having lived and worked all over the world across such diverse sectors, my brain works differently.  I have an innate ability for identifying where gaps exist in traditional ways of thinking, communicating, and approaching problems. My differentiating competence is in translating concepts across cultures, and thematic verticals, moving ideas to action, and creating projects which then define products and technologies that strike a universal chord.

I have built and led institutions and global projects spanning across continents and advised heads of state, royal families and CEOs about complex policy and business development as well as negotiations. One of my areas of special focus is in building unique private public partnership ecosystems for commercial startups with clear global impact capacity, bringing them to the table with international policy makers and stakeholders. Global and Public Health are particular areas of expertise. My passion is in how to leverage technology for evidence based health systems strengthening in the Global South emphasizing the need for robust change management for effective adoption of digital technology.

Fascinated with Neuroscience and emerging potentials within biotech and medtech, I decided to expand on my BSc in Psychology by pursuing a Masters in Neuroscience, next moving on to obtain a PhD in Neuroscience at University College London. My work in academia focused on the interface between central nervous system lymphatics, neuroimmunology and neurodegeneration. This rigorous immersion and training equipped me to better understand the real potential for medical science technologies from the inside.

I now live between Geneva and London with my amazing Swiss husband Camille, an angel investor with whom I participate with in startup investments as a part of our single- family office.  Along with my professional responsibilities, I am proud to sit on the International Advisory Board and Investment Committees of KHP Ventures (a joint venture between Kings College London, Kings College Hospital NHS Trust, and Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust), and the Global Bio Fund, and am Vice Chairman of UNAIDS Health Innovation Exchange. In my free time I am an avid reader (a fan of Japanese writers such as Soseki, Murata and Murakami) and I love being anyplace where there is good jazz and sunshine.

Welcome to my site. Have a look around and make yourself comfortable. I hope you will find a corner or a spark of an idea that resonates with you while you are here.

With Hope,

Shannon Shibata-Germanos

    C.G. Jung

  • "The mind likes a strange idea as little as the body likes a strange protein and resists it with similar energy. It would not perhaps be too fanciful to say that a new idea is the most quickly acting antigen known to science. If we watch ourselves honestly we shall often find that we have begun to argue against a new idea even before it has been completely stated."

    Wilfred Trotter

  • "In order to discover something truly new, at least one of your basic assumptions has to change."
